Meet Vance!

How It Started

Soon after graduating college, Vance set off on a backpacking trip spending 7 months traveling Southeast Asia. He met the most amazing people from different cultures, saw some of the worlds most beautiful places, tasted local delicacies, but most of all he had priceless experiences. He took as many photos as possible, trying to capture each and every moment. He even authored a blog during his trip so that he would always have a place to go look back on the memories from this amazing part of his life.

Vance discovered Cambodia on this trip and immediately felt something special about the country and its people. He was met with many warm welcomes, gentle smiles and so many genuine hearts. After returning home to San Francisco, he felt somewhat of a void. It was like Cambodia had stolen his heart. Later that year, Vance decided to pack up, move to Cambodia to open a business and eventually teach english.

Why We Do It

A few years later, Vance looked back at the photos on his blog and was inspired to create something truly special. Something that would help people capture the moments we live for. Something that would provide the flexibility to split his time between Cambodia & America. Something that could give back to the Cambodia community. Thus, SloCal Photobooth Co. was born.

How We Give Back

Because the Cambodia children are so dear to Vance’s heart, SloCal Photobooth donates a portion of all profits to SWIM Cambodia. On average, every 4 hours a child dies from drowning in Cambodia. However, due to the barriers in the way data is collected, classified and reported in low income countries, the actual number is thought to be much higher! SWIM Cambodia aims to lower the mortality rate by teaching Survival Swimming Skills and plans to begin providing Swimming Lessons in the near future. If you’re interested in donating, hosting a fundraiser or simply adding a donation link to your Photo Booth for this cause, please let us know! Every child deserves a chance at life and together we can make a difference!

Vance invites you to visit Cambodia “The Kingdom of Wonder” to experience a truly special place! Travel, play, work, volunteer! The world is your oyster and it’s waiting for you!
